début vendredi du stage pour le match amical face au Rwanda
Summary of the National Team’s Preparations and Upcoming Matches
The Algerian national A’ football team, composed entirely of local players, has commenced a mini-training camp in Algiers in preparation for an upcoming friendly match against Rwanda, scheduled for Monday, June 9, at 20:00 in the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium, Blida. The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced this development on their official website.
At the first training session held on the annex field of the 5-Juillet Stadium, all players called up were present, except for Abderrahmane Meziane due to injury. He was replaced by Moundher Temine. The session itself was relatively light, focusing on allowing the players to acclimate ahead of the match.
Coach Madjid Bougherra selected 23 players for this friendly, highlighting a strategic mix of talent for the encounter. The team’s recent history includes a 2-0 victory over the Rwandan national team in an earlier friendly match on Thursday at the Chahid-Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine, demonstrating the squad’s potential as they continue their preparations.
Additionally, the A’ team has secured qualification for the final stage of the African Nations Championship (CHAN-2024), which has been postponed to 2025. They advanced by eliminating Gambia in the preliminary qualification rounds with a 0-0 result in Bakau, followed by a commanding 3-0 win in Annaba. In the upcoming CHAN, Algeria has been placed in Group C, where they will face off against Uganda, Niger, Guinea, and South Africa, the latter also qualifying through the playoffs.
Beyond CHAN, the team will participate in the FIFA Arab Cup scheduled for December 1-18, 2025, in Qatar. They’ve been drawn into Group D alongside Iraq and the winners of the qualifying matches between Bahrain-Djibouti and Lebanon-Sudan.
The focus for the national team is sharpened as they aim to leverage these friendlies and upcoming tournaments to build momentum and enhance team cohesion, setting the stage for an exciting year ahead in competitive football.
