début du stage des Algériennes à Oran
The Algerian women’s national football team has commenced its training camp in Oran, as part of their preparations for the 13th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN-2024), which has been postponed to 2025. According to the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), all players attended the initial session on Sunday.
Head coach Farid Benstiti organized a morning workout in the gym, with an afternoon session held on the main pitch of the Miloud-Hadefi Stadium. This training camp will last until June 22 and is crucial for the team as they gear up for the CAN, scheduled to take place from July 5 to July 26, 2025.
In this tournament, the Algerian team will kick off their campaign on July 6, facing Botswana at 8:00 PM local time in their opening Group B match. Their subsequent matches include a showdown against Tunisia on July 10 and a crucial encounter with Nigeria on July 13, which will conclude the group stage.
The competition will feature twelve countries divided into three groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals, slated for July 18 and 19. The semi-finals will occur on July 22, with a classification match on July 25, leading up to the final on July 26.
This upcoming tournament marks a significant return to continental competition for the players, including standout Lina Boussaha from Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, especially since they missed the last two editions of the CAN. The Algerian team secured their place in the finals of CAN-2024 by defeating Burundi in both legs of the qualifying matches, with scores of 5-1 and 1-0, played at the Olympic Stadium of July 5 in Algiers.
In summary, the Algerian women’s football team is diligently preparing for an important continental tournament, aiming to make a strong comeback on the international stage after previous absences.
