Boughali participe à la réunion des présidents des groupes géopolitiques
Participation of Algerian Leadership at the 150th UIP Assembly in Tashkent
In Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the President of the National People’s Assembly (APN) of Algeria and the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIPA), Mr. Brahim Boughali, participated in a coordination meeting of geopolitical group leaders during the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). This engagement reflects Algeria’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its role as a strategic partner within the global parliamentary system, supporting developing nations’ sovereignty, and advocating for legitimate self-determination and development.
The meeting, chaired by IPU President, Mrs. Tulia Ackson, was attended by the IPU Secretary-General and featured a presence from the APN’s Vice President, Mr. Monder Bouden, who previously served as the leader of the African geopolitical group. The discussions were focused on various aspects pertinent to the operations of the 150th IPU Assembly and the critical issues on the session’s agenda.
Algeria’s participation underscores its dedication to enhancing its position in international parliamentary contexts, demonstrating its pivotal role in global balances that favor developing countries. The APN communication emphasizes that Algeria’s ongoing engagement at such forums reflects its strategic intent to amplify the voice of the Global South in international parliamentary dialogues.
During the Assembly, Vice President Bouden also established a working committee tasked with drafting an urgent consensus clause regarding the geopolitical group. This committee, led by Mr. Jacob Mudenda, the President of the Zimbabwean Parliament, is endowed with the necessary authority to coordinate and unify perspectives with other geopolitical groups, especially the Arab group.
The IPU is recognized as one of the leading global parliamentary organizations, striving to consolidate the efforts of Parliaments around common interests and advocating for justice and sustainable development on regional and international scales. The dynamics of the African geopolitical group highlighted a growing awareness of the importance of amplifying the voice of the South in international parliamentary venues.
The APN’s statement accentuates the significance of Arab-African complementarity as a foundational strength within an unpredictable global landscape. Algeria is actively working to bolster this complementarity by consistently supporting consensual positions and fostering initiatives that align perspectives to advocate for oppressed peoples, particularly the Palestinian cause.
The engagement at the IPU assembly exemplifies Algeria’s strategic approach to international cooperation, emphasizing collaboration among Arab and African nations to promote mutual interests and support marginalized communities. Through these efforts, Algeria aims to solidify its influence as a leader within the broader aspirations for justice, peace, and development on both regional and global platforms.
Algeria’s commitment to the Arab-African unity reflects its historical stance and relevance in advocating for peace and development, establishing itself as a significant contributor to collective efforts in parliamentary engagements. The initiatives set forth by Boughali and his associates seek to ensure that the concerns of developing nations are voiced on international stages, aligning with the core principles of the IPU to promote dialogue and understanding among nations.
In summary, Algeria’s active participation in the 150th IPU Assembly showcases its leadership role in fostering solidarity and collaboration among geopolitical groups, particularly in advocating for the needs and rights of developing nations, thereby reinforcing its stature as a key player in global parliamentary discourse.
