Summary of Algeria-Jordan Cooperation Meeting
On June 15, 2023, in Algiers, the Algerian Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Fayçal Bentaleb, welcomed Jordan’s Minister of Health, Firas Ibrahim Al Hawari. This meeting, part of Al Hawari’s working visit to Algeria from June 15 to 17, aimed to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the healthcare sector.
During their discussions, attended by the Jordanian Ambassador to Algeria, Attallah El Amouch, Bentaleb emphasized the "historic relations" between Algeria and Jordan. He highlighted the need for enhanced cooperation, especially regarding health contracts. Bentaleb also noted Algeria’s significant progress in healthcare, credited to the expertise of Algerian doctors and substantial reforms that have decreased the number of patients seeking treatment abroad.
Moreover, Bentaleb proposed ways to fortify collaboration in labor and employment, stressing the importance of implementing a bilateral agreement and presenting a proposed executive program for Jordan’s review by experts from both nations.
In response, Al Hawari expressed appreciation for the strong ties between the two countries and welcomed Algeria’s initiatives. He showed Jordan’s interest in expanding partnerships with Algeria beyond healthcare, aiming for mutual benefits.
The meeting served as a platform for both parties to discuss enhancing the health agreement between Algeria and Jordan and exploring collaborative opportunities across various sectors that serve the interests of their peoples.
This encounter underscores not only the shared commitment to deepening ties but also the potential for broader cooperation in multiple areas, paving the way for future engagements beneficial to both nations.
