Summary of Bilateral Cooperation Meeting between Algeria and Bosnia-Herzegovina

In a recent meeting held on Monday, the Algerian Minister of State for Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, welcomed the Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina to Algeria, Bojana Kondic Panic. The discussion centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in vital sectors such as energy, mining, and renewable resources.

The meeting, conducted at the Ministry’s headquarters with various officials present, aimed to review the state of collaboration between Algeria and Bosnia-Herzegovina. A pivotal focus was placed on the fresh dynamics following the February visit of Bosnia’s Minister of Energy, Mines, and Industry, Vedran Lakic, to Algeria, which underscored the commitment to deepening ties.

Topics discussed included the established cooperation between Algeria’s state-owned electricity and gas company, Sonelgaz, and Bosnia’s national company, Energo Invest. Additionally, prospects for collaboration between Sonatrach—a major player in Algeria’s hydrocarbon sector—and Bosnian operators were explored, indicating a strategic interest in the hydrocarbons field.

Both parties also examined joint investment opportunities in mining and related manufacturing industries, alongside initiatives in renewable energy projects. Emphasis was placed on the exchange of expertise, experience sharing, and technical training, which are crucial for fostering robust economic partnerships.

The statement from the Ministry reiterated the commitment of both nations to reinforce their economic partnership through concrete projects that align with mutual interests. This includes a previous agreement made during the February meeting with Minister Lakic to broaden cooperation to encompass liquefied natural gas (LNG), electricity, renewable energies, green hydrogen, and electrical industries.

The visit by the Bosnian delegation had included technical tours of Sonelgaz and Sonatrach facilities, reflecting a shared interest in establishing a solid and enduring economic partnership between Algeria and Bosnia-Herzegovina. This collaborative spirit indicates a promising future for both nations as they seek to enhance their economic cooperation, particularly in energy and mining sectors.

Conclusion

The meeting highlighted a strategic commitment from both Algeria and Bosnia-Herzegovina to pursue mutual benefits through strengthened ties. By focusing on energy, mining, and renewable resources, the two countries are positioning themselves for a collaborative future that fosters economic growth and development.
