On Tuesday, in Algiers, Algeria’s Minister of State for Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, met with Raul Pereda, the CEO of Mitsubishi Power Aero. This meeting focused on enhancing industrial and technical cooperation between Algerian enterprises and Mitsubishi. Attendees included Algeria’s Secretary of State for Renewable Energy, Noureddine Yassaâ, senior ministry officials, and representatives from Sonelgaz and Mitsubishi.
During the discussions, the two parties explored numerous collaborative opportunities in the energy sector, encompassing electric equipment, gas turbines, mobile power generation stations, and innovative technological solutions for electricity production. This is particularly significant for remote and challenging areas.
Minister Arkab emphasized the strong and historical ties between Sonelgaz and Mitsubishi Power, urging an expansion of this collaboration through local turbine manufacturing and maintenance in Algeria. He also highlighted the necessity for local content development, enhanced training programs, expertise exchange, and technology transfer.
Arkab described Algeria as a promising market for energy, underscoring that support from state-owned companies like Sonelgaz and Sonatrach could facilitate strategic growth in cooperation, especially toward penetrating the African market. This aligns with the national vision to develop multilateral international partnerships.
On the other hand, Pereda expressed Mitsubishi’s growing interest in the Algerian market and the desire to deepen ties with local enterprises. He acknowledged the solid relationships built between Mitsubishi Power Aero and Sonelgaz and recognized Algeria’s confidence in Mitsubishi as a reliable technical partner.
