On Thursday, various activities and ceremonies marked the celebration of the National Day for Persons with Disabilities in southern Algeria. In Ouargla, the festivities featured a showcase of activities by children from specialized institutions and associations, culminating in the distribution of essential equipment, including tricycles, wheelchairs, orthopedic bedding, and clothing in anticipation of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebration.

The events took place at the Mohamed Tidjani Public Reading Library and included a presentation summarizing the social action and solidarity initiatives implemented throughout the year 2024 by local authorities. This was a show of support for individuals with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of community solidarity.

In El-Meghaïer, the Chahid Debbakh Tahar psychopedagogical center hosted a ceremony attended by the parents of persons with disabilities. The event featured an exhibition of artworks created by children from the center and the distribution of 20 wheelchairs to enhance mobility for those in need.

Similarly, in Illizi, the Mechaouri-Mohamed center for children with mental disabilities held a ceremony focused on providing wheelchairs and auxiliary devices. The day in Djanet included an engaging workshop where children participated in decoration and coloring activities and had an introduction to afforestation. Gifts and equipment were also provided to the children of the Tin-Khatema psychopedagogical center.

At the far southern region of Bordj Badji-Mokhtar, a ceremony at the local cultural center included the distribution of wheelchairs. In Tamanrasset, cultural events took place at the psychopedagogical center of Inkouf, including a handicraft exhibition and a showcase of social action activities. This event also involved the distribution of wheelchairs, orthopedic items, and certificates of honor.

Overall, these events across multiple wilayas highlighted the commitment to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities, fostering a supportive community, and raising awareness about their rights and needs.
