Une marche mondiale vers Ghaza le 12 juin pour exiger la fin du génocide

Summary of the Global March to Ghaza

On June 12, citizens from 37 countries will gather in Cairo, Egypt, for a global march aimed at raising awareness about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The organizers emphasize their commitment to ending what they describe as a genocide, lifting the blockade imposed by Israel on the Palestinian enclave, and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Participants will travel to El-Arich, a town in Sinai near the Gaza border, from where they will undertake a 50-kilometer trek to the Rafah border crossing. Due to extreme heat, the march will occur during early morning and evening hours. This initiative, dubbed the "Global March to Ghaza," is characterized by its non-political, pacifist stance, drawing support from citizens across various ideologies and beliefs united by the common goal of taking action against the humanitarian crisis.

Samuel Crettenand, a Swiss delegate and spokesperson for the movement, highlighted the urgent need for action, stating, "We no longer know what to do to stop the ongoing genocide." He expressed disappointment in the lack of response from Swiss authorities and emphasized that the community’s inaction is unacceptable.

Since its inception, the movement has formed national committees in 37 countries, reflecting its growing influence and participation. The organizers expect over a thousand people to join the march in Cairo, including nearly 200 from Switzerland. The costs are covered by the participants themselves, along with donations collected online.

Crettenand pointed out that the ultimate aim is to break the blockade to allow essential food and medical supplies to reach the people in Gaza. The movement claims support from more than 300 NGOs worldwide, indicating a broader network advocating for humanitarian rights. He noted that the efforts to disrupt their organization, such as hacking attempts and discrediting campaigns, illustrate the movement’s impact and the significant opposition it faces.

The Global March to Ghaza represents an important grassroots effort to spotlight the dire situation in Gaza, where ongoing violence and blockades threaten lives and livelihoods. The movement’s focus on non-violence and inclusivity further emphasizes its role as a unique platform for advocacy and change.
