The final group of players arrived at the National Technical Center (CTN) in Sidi Moussa on Monday, as reported by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).
Arrival of Key Players
This past weekend saw the initial group of players arrive at the training center on Saturday and Sunday. Coach Petkovic conducted his first training session with a limited squad on Sunday evening. The last contingent, which included key players such as captain Ryad Mahrez, Ramy Bensebaïni, Farés Chaïbi, Ismaël Bennacer, Amine Gouiri, Youcef Belaïli, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Jaouen Hadjam, Anis Hadj Moussa, Mohamed Amine Tougaï, and goalkeeper Alexis Guendouz, joined the team on Monday.
Upcoming Matches
The "Greens" will first face Rwanda on Thursday at the Chahid-Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine at 5:00 PM. Following this match, they will travel to Scandinavia for a game against Sweden on June 10 at Strawberry Arena in Solna, near Stockholm, at 6:00 PM (Algerian time).
Objectives
These friendlies are crucial as they serve as part of Algeria’s preparations for the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, which resumes in September. After the sixth round of qualifications in March, Algeria is currently in the lead with 15 points, three points ahead of their closest competitor, Mozambique.
In summary, Algeria’s national football team is gearing up for significant friendly encounters that will not only test their current form but also play a vital role in their World Cup qualification campaign. With a strong roster featuring prominent players, expectations are high for successful performances.
