In a recent visit to Chlef, the Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, emphasized the critical importance of developing educational infrastructures that meet quality standards to enhance both student enrollment conditions and the working environment for educational staff.

During his interactions with the media, Saadaoui articulated that effective education hinges on several key components, including the establishment of educational facilities aligned with the necessary quality frameworks and in accordance with the overarching strategic vision set forth by the nation’s top authorities. This vision prioritizes the inclusion of spaces for sports and cultural activities within educational institutions, ensuring that teachers can work under optimal conditions, regardless of their roles within the education system.

The Minister underscored that improvements in working conditions are essential for all education sector employees, including teachers, supervisors, counselors, and economic service staff. Critical to these improvements are the creation of annexes for educational establishments and the provision of necessary facilities such as school cafeterias and spaces for physical education, as these elements significantly impact the quality of education and the learning experience of students.

Further, Saadaoui highlighted the need to fully utilize existing educational structures to keep pace with the ongoing demographic growth. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between different sectors and stakeholders to overcome challenges and initiate various projects locally.

The Minister also noted the positive implications of revitalizing school sports, which include employing specialized physical education teachers at the primary level instead of general teachers and hosting national and continental competitions, such as the African School Games set to take place in four eastern provinces of the country. This resurgence is expected to enhance the role of schools as facilitators of African integration and cooperation.

On a separate note, Saadaoui clarified that his ministry is actively implementing measures from the specific statute governing national education, particularly concerning employee compensations. He conveyed a commitment to cooperate and engage in dialogue with trade unions, which have submitted proposals on various issues. He mentioned that these proposals would be discussed in bilateral talks with union representatives, potentially leading to the development of complementary projects or amendments to the educational statute, contingent on achieving consensus.

During his visit, Saadaoui inaugurated the "Kamel Tahar" Middle School in the Sonelgaz district and inspected the construction site of a replacement high school in the Oued Sly area. He also reviewed the construction projects for a primary school in the Bensouna district and a middle school in the Kefafsa area of Chlef.
