Visit of General Saïd Chanegriha to Oran’s Military Region

On May 26, 2025, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Algeria’s Chief of Staff and Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, began an important visit to the 2nd Military Region in Oran. This visit is part of the ongoing assessment of the combat preparation programs for the 2024-2025 period as outlined by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).

Commemoration and Ceremony

The visit commenced with a welcoming ceremony led by Major General Mohamed Tayeb Brakni, the Commander of the 2nd Military Region. Following the reception, General Chanegriha paid tribute to the memory of Martyr Ahmed Boudjenane, also known as Si Abbès, whose name graces the command headquarters. He laid a wreath at the memorial and recited the opening verses of the Quran in honor of Boudjenane and all martyrs who sacrificed for Algeria’s freedom.

Engaging with Military Personnel

Subsequently, General Chanegriha held a dialogue with the personnel and the leadership of the 2nd Military Region. His remarks, which were shared with all units via videoconference, emphasized the Algerian National Army’s (ANP) commitment and duty to uphold its constitutional missions. He characterized these missions as centered around defending the nation, ensuring national unity, safeguarding national wealth, and protecting Algeria’s sovereignty and decision-making autonomy.

Commitment to National Values

The General articulated the ANP’s legacy and its ongoing aspirations, highlighting the balance the army strives to maintain between operational capabilities and deeply embedded national values. He asserted that the army is built on competencies, combat experience, and professionalism while nurturing allegiance to the nation and honoring the sacrifices of past heroes.

General Chanegriha expressed his conviction that Algeria can remain strong as long as it adheres to the vows made by its martyrs. He noted that adversaries, similar to historical foes, would continue to face the consequences of defeat. He encouraged a resolute path under the leadership of the President of Algeria, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, reinforcing the idea that continued dedication to national renaissance would yield economic and strategic advancements for Algeria.

Military Personnel’s Concerns

Following the General’s address, military personnel shared their concerns and interests, demonstrating their readiness to fulfill their challenging duties in service of Algeria. This engagement shows a commitment not only to military readiness but to the well-being and morale of the soldiers.

Inauguration of the Military Appeals Court

The visit also included the inauguration of the newly established Military Appeal Court in Oran, attended by General Chanegriha, the Commander of the 2nd Military Region, and the Director of Military Justice. During this event, General Chanegriha received detailed explanations regarding the court’s facilities, designed to support the rights and freedoms of military personnel and streamline the appeal processes within this judicial branch.

Conclusion

Overall, this visit by General Saïd Chanegriha to the 2nd Military Region underscores the ANP’s commitment to its foundational values, the sacrifices of its past martyrs, and the importance of readiness to meet contemporary challenges. Through engagement with military personnel and the inauguration of significant judicial institutions, the visit reflects the ongoing efforts to enhance the operational capabilities and judicial framework within Algeria’s military setup.
