Summary of Minister Ouadah’s Visit to Sétif: Promoting Start-ups and Entrepreneurship

During a recent visit to Sétif, Algeria, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, emphasized the growing role of Algerian universities in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students. He noted that there is an annual increase in the number of students engaged in start-up and micro-enterprise projects, indicating a positive shift towards integrating higher education with economic dynamics.

Minister Ouadah underlined the government’s ambitious goal of establishing 20,000 start-ups by 2027, as directed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He stressed the necessity of involving all Algerian students, vocational training participants, and the diaspora in this entrepreneurial initiative. The minister acknowledged that the quality and quantity of start-ups could significantly improve by harnessing the skills of both local and international talents.

During his tour, Ouadah visited several start-ups, including one focused on teaching children and young adults about robotics and artificial intelligence. He praised the achievements made in introducing new technologies to the youth. This hands-on approach represents a crucial step toward equipping the next generation with essential digital skills.

Additionally, the minister toured the university incubator and the entrepreneurship development center at Sétif-1, where he learned about various innovative student projects. His itinerary also included visits to micro-enterprises that manufacture medical products and automotive accessories, along with a project dedicated to selling gluten-free products for individuals with celiac disease.

Earlier that day, Minister Ouadah, along with Minister of Communication Mohamed Meziane, participated in a seminar titled "The Productive Economic Enterprise Incubating Start-ups: National Television as a Space for Interaction and Communication." This event, organized by the national television entity in The Dome (Park Mall), aimed at discussing the roles of media in promoting entrepreneurship.

Overall, Minister Ouadah’s visit underscored the Algerian government’s commitment to enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem, nurturing innovation among youth, and aligning educational institutions with the nation’s economic goals.
