Summary of the Partnership Agreement to Support Individuals with Special Needs in Algeria

On Thursday, a framework agreement for partnership and cooperation was signed in Algiers between the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education and the Ministry of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Affairs. This agreement aims to assist individuals with specific needs and facilitate their socioeconomic integration.

During the signing ceremony held at the Vocational Training and Apprenticeship Center for Individuals with Physical Disabilities, Minister Yacine El Mahdi Oualid emphasized that this partnership would enhance coordination between the two ministries. He highlighted that vocational training is "the ideal field" for individuals with specific needs, allowing them to realize their potential for improved socioeconomic inclusion.

The agreement includes the establishment of specialized and adapted classes across all vocational training centers. Currently, Algeria has five centers dedicated to training and apprenticeship for individuals with specific needs. The minister noted that tailored training programs are being developed, particularly for those on the autism spectrum. The overarching aim of these initiatives is to ease the integration of these individuals into socioeconomic life.

Minister Soraya Mouloudji of the Ministry of National Solidarity highlighted the agreement’s objective to delineate areas of partnership between the two departments. She celebrated the introduction of training opportunities and tailored spaces for individuals with specific needs. Mouloudji stressed the importance of promoting training and investing in emerging specialties and professions that align with both the characteristics of this group and the demands of the job market.

Reflecting on the year 2024-2025, she reported that 912 individuals with specific needs had been directed towards vocational training centers operated by the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education.

This collaborative effort underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for individuals with specific needs, equipping them with skills and facilitating their social and economic integration.
