In a recent meeting in Algiers, Vatican Ambassador Kurian Mathew Vayalunkal expressed his satisfaction with the relationship between Algeria and the Holy See, highlighting the potential for expansion into various sectors. During his farewell address after four years of service in Algeria, he conveyed his gratitude to President Tebboune for the valuable time and kind words extended to him. He acknowledged the support received from the Algerian authorities, the local Catholic Church, and the Algerian populace, which facilitated the successful completion of his mission.

The ambassador also took the opportunity to thank President Tebboune for his condolences following the passing of Pope Francis and for the messages sent to the new pope, Léon XIV, who had notably visited Annaba in 2013. Moreover, Vayalunkal commended Algeria’s initiative at the United Nations, which led to the establishment of an international day dedicated to "living together in peace." He urged the implementation of this initiative with strong resolve.

As he reflected on his time in Algeria, Vayalunkal spoke fondly of the memories and experiences gained, particularly the diverse personalities he encountered during his travels across the nation.
