A man in his sixties was charged with « attempted murder » after shooting two women in Estrées-Saint-Denis on May 15, following a neighborhood dispute. He shot his neighbor and her daughter with a shotgun before barricading himself at home. The gendarmerie’s negotiator successfully intervened, leading to his arrest. The elderly victim sustained minor injuries, while her daughter was seriously wounded and hospitalized. The shooter, described as a « marginal » individual by neighbors, had ongoing issues with them due to his pets and inappropriate behavior. He faces up to 30 years in prison, while his brother, also questioned, was released without charges.
