Summary of the Journey of Algerian Pilgrims to Jeddah

The flow of Algerian pilgrims (hajis) to the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is proceeding smoothly, aided by effective measures to ensure their transportation to Mecca is seamless, stated Mr. Bedreddine Filali, head of the Algerian Hajj Mission.

Efficient Reception at Jeddah Airport

Filali asserted that all necessary arrangements have been made for the welcoming of pilgrims at Jeddah Airport, a crucial transit point for those heading to Mecca. Teams from the Algerian Mission, including organizational staff, oversee the logistics of transporting pilgrims to their hotels. They have implemented a system where each hotel is serviced by a single bus to prevent confusion and operational inefficiencies.

Ensuring Comfortable Transfers

Efforts are in place to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition for Algerian pilgrims from the airport to their accommodations in Mecca. According to Filali, the Jeddah center operates differently from those in Medina and Mecca. Pilgrims arriving at Jeddah perform the ritual of El-Ihram right at the airport, necessitating specially designated facilities such as restrooms, prayer rooms, and resting areas. This season anticipates the arrival of 63 flights.

Special Facilities and Procedures

Upon arrival, each pilgrim is directed to specific areas for El-Ihram, while their luggage is transported directly to their hotels, simplifying the process and enhancing comfort. Moreover, two dedicated offices have been established at the Jeddah airport for Algerian hajis: one serving as a medical clinic and the other for administrative assistance in cases of lost passports or important documents. Coordination with the consular section allows for the urgent issuance of necessary documents to address any issues.

Organizational Framework

These measures align with a comprehensive organization plan approved by the National Office of Pilgrimage and Umrah (ONPO) aimed at ensuring a successful Hajj season.
