Launch of Maritime Passenger Transport by Madar Maritime Company

Overview of Expansion Plans

Madar Maritime Company (MMC), a subsidiary of Madar Holding, is set to expand its operations by introducing a passenger maritime transport service. This initiative was announced during a maritime transport conference associated with the 8th International Logistics and Transport Exhibition, "Logistical 2025." Lilia Merzouki, the company’s commercial director, emphasized that investing in passenger transport is one of three central pillars of their expansion strategy.

Key Components of the Expansion

  1. New Vessel Acquisition: The company’s plan involves chartering a passenger transport ship and acquiring a bulk cargo vessel. Additionally, they will soon launch the "Tahat," a recently acquired container ship, indicating significant progress in these projects.

  2. Strategic Coordination: During the conference, notable figures, including former Minister Saïd Djellab and Ryad Bouledjouidja, the General Director of General Maritime Company (GEMA), stressed the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders in advancing maritime transport. They highlighted the need to integrate national ports with transport networks like roads and railways to position Algeria as a pivotal maritime hub.

Event Highlights

The "Logistical 2025" Exhibition, taking place from May 18 to 20 at the Palais des Expositions, features over 70 exhibitors from public and private sectors in transport, logistics, and related services. This platform serves as an opportunity to showcase innovations and discuss infrastructure improvements vital for the growth of maritime transport in Algeria.

Summary

Madar Maritime Company is poised to enhance its services by launching a new passenger maritime transport system as part of a broader expansion strategy. This plan includes acquiring new vessels and emphasizes the importance of interconnectivity between ports and transport networks to establish Algeria as a critical maritime center. The ongoing "Logistical 2025" exhibition presents an opportunity for industry stakeholders to collaborate and innovate within this essential sector.
