Traficants de drogue et extrémistes : Darmanin prévoit une prison de haute sécurité en 2028 au cœur de la forêt amazonienne, en Guyane.

Date:

Gérald Darmanin, the French Minister of Justice, announced the construction of a high-security prison in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, Guyana, set to open by 2028. This facility will have 500 places, with a strict regime targeting major narcotraffickers and 15 spaces for radicalized individuals. Darmanin aims to disrupt organized crime from its roots in Guyana, focusing on preventing drug network leaders from maintaining contact with their operations. The project, costing €400 million, is expected to be built in the Amazon jungle, amidst record homicide rates in Guyana, which is the most crime-prone region in France.
