Ain Temouchent – Advancements in Algerian Automotive Industry
During a recent visit to the IDE-NET facility in Ain Temouchent, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, emphasized the positive trajectory of Algeria’s automotive industry. Accompanied by the Minister of Postal Services and Telecommunications, Sidali Zerrouki, Ouadah discussed the significance of local production in the automotive sector, particularly focusing on the manufacturing of essential electronic components.
IDE-NET, located in the industrial zone of Tamazougha, specializes in the production of electronic components crucial for vehicles. The minister highlighted that the establishment of IDE-NET is pivotal as it signifies a commitment to not only producing raw materials but also fostering the local climate for the automotive industry through the development of accompanying electronic components.
Ouadah noted that IDE-NET has invested over one million dollars in innovative modeling systems aimed at enhancing the growth of startups in the sector, thereby promoting the national economy. Tracing the company’s evolution from a small startup to a significant industrial player, the minister talked about IDE-NET’s role in boosting integration rates within Algeria’s automotive industry.
This initiative not only provides a platform for nurturing innovative ideas from youth but also ensures the development of a robust ecosystem to support the automotive industry. During the visit to various production workshops, Minister Zerrouki inquired about the extent to which local economic operators utilize the products from IDE-NET. He found the participation rate negligible, which underscored the adherence of IDE-NET to quality standards across its industrial operations.
According to the provided information, IDE-NET engages in manufacturing various electronic products, including wiring harnesses, electronic mirrors, vehicle meters, and products that leverage artificial intelligence technologies. The facility produces approximately 1,554 wire harness units weekly and has plans to expand its industrial capacity, aiming to create around 1,000 jobs by the end of 2026.
The optimistic remarks from the ministers regarding the developments in IDE-NET and the automotive sector reflect a broader vision for Algeria’s economic diversification and innovation strategy.
