Summary of Minister Mustapha Hidaoui’s Announcement on Youth Infrastructure Management in Médéa

During a recent visit to Médéa, Mustapha Hidaoui, the Minister of Youth and head of the Higher Council for Youth (CSJ), made significant announcements regarding the management of youth infrastructures. He stated that the overall management of youth facilities would now hinge on obtaining authorization from his ministry, effectively freezing a previous ministerial decision that had granted associations full management rights over these infrastructures. While associations can still manage facilities partially, total management will be regulated by the Ministry of Youth.

This decision aims to enhance the youth sector’s objectives and optimize existing infrastructure. Hidaoui emphasized that these facilities should evolve beyond merely hosting traditional activities. Instead, they should facilitate educational activities, including camping and exchanges between youth clubs and associations.

During his visit, Hidaoui also launched the "Youth: Ambassadors of Memory" initiative, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the May 8, 1945 massacres. He highlighted that this initiative underscores the youth’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of martyrs and preserving historical memory against those who seek to undermine it. It also provides young people with opportunities to showcase their creative abilities in content creation, scientific research, and historical inquiry, thereby strengthening their national consciousness.

The minister’s visit included a respectful tribute at the cemetery dedicated to martyrs in Médéa, alongside local authorities. He also attended an exhibition organized by Médéa University and local veteran organizations, showcasing the tragic events of May 8, 1945.

Further engagements took him to the Scientific Leisure Center in Médéa and the Youth Center in Tibhirine, where he stressed the importance of focusing on youth guidance and support. He reiterated the need to respect the core mission of youth structures by increasing activities that promote young people’s personal development.

This recent shift in policy and the launch of the "Youth: Ambassadors of Memory" initiative collectively reflect the government’s commitment to fostering a more nurturing environment for Algeria’s youth, ensuring they play an active role in both social and historical contexts.
