International ITF Junior Tournament J60 "Algiers" Kicks Off

On Monday, the International ITF Junior J60 "Algiers" tournament officially commenced at the Federal Training Center in Ben Aknoun. This highly anticipated event features the final rounds of competition for both boys and girls.

The tournament is being organized by the Algerian Tennis Federation (FAT) in collaboration with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and showcases talent from fifteen different countries. Participants hail from Tunisia, Mexico, Brazil, Poland, France, Spain, Russia, the United States, Argentina, Ukraine, Turkey, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Singapore, and host nation Algeria. Algeria is proudly represented by twenty-nine athletes, including 17 boys and 12 girls.

The tournament involves both singles and doubles matches for male and female competitors. Abderrahmane Cherifa, an experienced Algerian referee holding a White Badge, is in charge of officiating the matches. Asma Sahraoui has been appointed as the tournament director, ensuring smooth operation throughout the event.

Following the J60 tournament, another international event classified as J100 is scheduled to take place in Ben Aknoun from May 10 to 17. This upcoming tournament adds to the excitement and opportunities for young tennis talents in the region.

In summary, the ITF Junior J60 "Algiers" serves not only as a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills but also enhances the reputation of Algeria as a host for international sporting events. The participation of a diverse range of countries highlights the event’s significance and the spirit of competition in the world of junior tennis.
