The 24th edition of the Arab Athletics Championship, held in Oran, Algeria, concluded successfully, marking a historic achievement for the Algerian team. Yacine Louail, the president of the Algerian Athletics Federation, announced that this championship has set a new record for Algerian participation, boasting an impressive medal tally of 18 gold, 17 silver, and 18 bronze medals.

In his remarks to the press, Louail emphasized the significance of this edition, describing it as an extraordinary accomplishment in the annals of Algerian athletics. The nation secured first place overall, amassing a total of 53 medals, which positioned them significantly ahead of Tunisia, who finished in second place. This performance reflects both the current strength of Algerian athletics and the successful preparation of the athletes.

Louail also highlighted the inclusion of young talents in the national team, aiming to provide them with valuable competitive experiences against their Arab counterparts. This initiative is seen as crucial for nurturing the next generation of Algerian athletes, ensuring a sustainable future for the sport in the country.

Furthermore, the event, organized in collaboration with the Arab Athletics Union, featured 160 athletes from 12 countries, including notable participants from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Jordan, Djibouti, Tunisia, and the host nation Algeria.

Looking ahead, Louail announced plans for an international athletics meeting on June 28 at the Miloud Hadefi Olympic Complex in Oran, aiming to maintain the momentum gained from this championship and further promote athletics in Algeria.
