Summary of Batimatec 2025

Event Overview
The 27th edition of the International Building, Construction Materials, and Public Works Exhibition (Batimatec 2025) commenced on Sunday at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Palace in Algiers. Scheduled from May 4 to 8, the event is organized by Algeria Exhibitions, a subsidiary of the SAFEX Group, under the auspices of the Ministry of Habitat, Urban Planning, and the City. Batimatec is a significant event in the public works sector, encompassing all branches of building and construction.

Exhibition Details
Covering an area of 40,000 square meters, this year’s expo features a robust participation of exhibitors, including national public and private companies as well as international firms from around 15 countries, such as China, Turkey, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. One notable highlight, as noted by Dris Kedidah, the communication officer for Batimatec, is the first-time representation of young Algerians venturing into the construction materials industry, particularly in sectors like paint and ceramics.

Significance of the Event
Dris Kedidah emphasized the exhibition’s importance for promoting the local industry, which is gaining traction and experiencing significant growth. The event serves as a valuable opportunity for showcasing and eventually exporting national products.

Educational Components
In addition to exhibition spaces and professional demonstrations, the salon features a rich program of technical conferences intended for professionals and academics. These conferences, led by officials from the Ministry of Habitat, will address critical topics such as seismic standards, geological risks, corporate social responsibility, engineering, and eco-friendly solutions for sustainable urban development.

Architectural Competition
Alongside the exhibition, the 14th edition of the National Young Architects’ Competition, La Charrette d’Or, will be held. This year’s theme focuses on the development of a multimodal hub at the eastern entrance of Annaba. The competition provides a platform for students and emerging architects to showcase their skills, creativity, and innovative spirit, culminating in the presentation of finalist projects and the awarding of prizes by a panel of experts.

Conclusion

Batimatec 2025 stands out as a pivotal event for the construction sector, combining exhibition and education to foster growth in the industry. Its emphasis on local talent and innovation, alongside international participation, showcases Algeria’s commitment to advancing its public works capabilities and responding to contemporary challenges in urban development.
