Ismaël Boudjekada, an opposition municipal councillor in Grand-Charmont, was arrested at Basel-Mulhouse airport upon returning from Egypt, according to Europe 1. A supporter of the Palestinian cause, he received criticism for remarks defending Hamas and calling its leader, Yahya Sinwar, a « hero. » The Interior Minister reported these comments as terrorism glorification to the Montbéliard prosecutor. During his arrest, Boudjekada was live on TikTok, stating, « This is what it costs to be pro-Palestinian today. » He has been placed in custody for justifying terrorism and is expected to appear before a national anti-terrorism judge.
