Summary of Operations by the Algerian National Popular Army (ANP)
From April 23 to April 29, 2025, the Algerian National Popular Army (ANP) conducted various operations resulting in significant accomplishments against terrorism and organized crime. Six individuals suspected of supporting terrorist groups were apprehended across multiple regions.
The ANP highlighted its commitment to counter-terrorism and the ongoing fight against multifaceted organized crime, showcasing the effectiveness and readiness of its forces. The reported operations reflect heightened vigilance and professionalism among the troops, contributing to national security.
In efforts against narcotrafficking, combined detachments of the ANP, working alongside security services, arrested 38 drug traffickers. They also thwarted attempts to smuggle 9 quintals and 91 kilograms of treated cannabis resin from the Moroccan border. Additionally, they seized over 105,000 psychotropic pills, showcasing a robust strategy against drug-related crimes.
In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, and Djanet, significant operations led to the arrest of 689 individuals. The ANP reports included the confiscation of various materials that could be used for illegal gold mining, including 24 vehicles, 355 generators, 176 jackhammers, and explosives alongside raw gold and gemstones.
Furthermore, authorities apprehended 19 more individuals in other operations, recovering firearms, large quantities of fuel, tobacco, and food products intended for smuggling and speculation.
On the maritime front, Algerian Coast Guards thwarted attempts at illegal immigration, rescuing 122 individuals from makeshift boats. Additionally, 856 undocumented immigrants from different nationalities were arrested nationwide.
