poursuite du stage à Sidi Moussa avec l’intégration des joueurs du CSC
Summary of Algerian National A’ Team’s Preparation for CHAN-2025 Qualifiers
The Algerian national A’ football team is currently in a preparation camp at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa, which will last until May 9. This training aims to ready the team for their upcoming double confrontation against Gambia, part of the final round of qualifications for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced the inclusion of players from CS Constantine, which has brought the roster to 25 players.
Player Integrations and Training Dynamics
Five players from CS Constantine—Bouhalfaya, Baouche, Dib, Merbah, and Belhocini—joined the team on Monday after completing an individualized recovery program due to their late arrival. The squad engaged in a focused training session on Tuesday evening, concentrating on technical and tactical aspects to improve team cohesion and readiness.
Additionally, Mohamed Benkhemassa from MC Alger, who arrived injured, was released by the coaching staff. The team, led by coach Madjid Bougherra, began preparations on Sunday with light training accompanied by motivational talks from national team coach Vladimir Petkovic.
Upcoming Matches and Tournament Outlook
The team will continue preparations at the Sidi Moussa center until their departure for Gambia on May 1. The first match against Gambia is scheduled for May 3 at Independence Stadium in Bakau, while the return leg will take place on May 9 at the 19-May-1956 Stadium in Annaba.
If Algeria secures qualification, they will be placed in Group C during the CHAN finals alongside Uganda, Niger, Guinea, and another qualifier from a second playoff (either South Africa or Malawi). A total of 19 countries will participate in the next CHAN edition. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the 2024 tournament due to delays in preparations.
The last CHAN, held in Algeria in 2023, saw Senegal triumph over the host team in a dramatic final that ended in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw.
This preparation period is crucial for the national team as they aim for success in the upcoming qualifiers and ultimately in the 2025 championship.
