Halim A. has had his legal troubles erased by the Paris Court of Appeal, which found his previous conviction for breaching an illegal house arrest unwarranted. Initially deemed a public safety threat, he was fined €972 for the wrongful procedure. Detained at Orly Airport in July, he discovered the administrative surveillance measure against him was based on outdated accusations from 2015, previously annulled. His lawyer argued that unlawful measures cannot justify subsequent infractions. Halim A. seeks €30,000 from the Interior Ministry for damages related to his wrongful treatment, including reputational harm and canceled family vacations.
