Summary of Algerian-Qatari Cooperation in Higher Education

On Monday, Algerian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, presided over the signing ceremony of the joint Algerian-Qatari steering committee. This committee focuses on fostering collaboration in higher education and scientific research, specifically activating existing twinning agreements in the academic domain.

The protocol was signed by Abdelhakim Bentellis, the Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry, and Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Nuaimi, the Undersecretary of Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The ceremony saw the attendance of numerous Qatari university rectors.

During the event, Minister Baddari emphasized that the cooperation between Algeria and Qatar encompasses several key areas of research, including cybersecurity and computer science, as well as various strategic topics beneficial to both nations. He stated that both parties would reconvene in a year to assess the progress made during this initial phase.

Al-Nuaimi praised the efforts of the joint committee, calling it a "successful experience." He noted that various projects initiated under this framework are on the verge of delivering results, including the establishment of several joint research centers and enhanced student exchange programs between the two countries.

The joint steering committee’s protocol includes several objectives aimed at strengthening academic collaboration. It outlines plans for developing joint academic projects and reinforcing the twinning agreements that were initially signed in 2023.

This cooperation represents a significant step forward in fostering meaningful academic partnerships and advancing research initiatives that benefit both Algeria and Qatar.
