Summary of Recent Operations by the Algerian National People’s Army (ANP)
Between April 17 and 22, 2025, the Algerian National People’s Army (ANP) conducted several successful operations across the country, resulting in the arrest of twelve individuals associated with terrorist support and the seizure of various weapons. These activities are part of the ANP’s ongoing commitment to combat terrorism and organized crime, demonstrating their high level of professionalism and readiness in safeguarding the nation.
According to the ANP’s operational report, these operations led to significant successes. Specifically, the army units seized two RPG-7 rocket launchers and four Kalashnikov submachine guns in the 6th Military Region (RM). Additionally, the ANP detained twelve individuals supporting terrorist groups during multiple raids conducted nationwide.
In parallel, efforts to combat organized crime have intensified, especially in addressing drug trafficking challenges in Algeria. Combined detachments from the ANP, in coordination with various security services, arrested 38 narcotics traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 957 kilograms of processed cannabis from the Moroccan border. In these operations, a whopping 310,506 psychotropic tablets were confiscated.
In the regions of Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and In Salah, the ANP apprehended 254 individuals and seized 33 vehicles, 141 generators, 102 jackhammers, and 7 metal detectors. Moreover, large amounts of unrefined gold, explosives, detonation tools, and equipment for illegal gold mining operations were also recovered.
Other operations yielded the arrest of an additional 13 individuals, alongside the confiscation of 3 automatic pistols, 17 shotguns, and 22,830 liters of fuel. Furthermore, the ANP reported the detainment of 2,035 undocumented immigrants from various nationalities across the country.
