A Paris court heard a case from Khadija, a woman who claims she was denied the opportunity to attend her ex-partner’s trial for serious crimes including rape. In 2017, she reported him, but due to a notification error, she learned about the trial through the media in 2020. Despite her absence, he was convicted of violence but acquitted of the rape charges. Khadija’s lawyer criticized the lack of communication and the court’s failure to confirm her presence. The state’s representative denied any wrongdoing, insisting Khadija’s rights were not violated. A decision on the state’s responsibility is expected on May 21.
