Summary of Investment Allocation by BADR in 2024

In 2024, the Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (BADR) allocated over 200 billion Algerian Dinars (DA) for investments, signifying a 7% increase from the previous year. This information was shared by the bank’s Director General, Mr. Mohand Bouraï, during an audition session before the Finance and Budget Commission of the National People’s Assembly.

Bouraï stressed the significance of investment financing for the national economy, revealing that the total financing provided by BADR reached 221 billion DA in 2024. This brought the cumulative financing amount granted by the BADR to around 1,983 billion DA by the end of 2024.

The geographical distribution of these investments showed a notable increase; specifically, the High Plateaus region experienced a 16% rise, southern wilayas saw a 13% increase, and northern wilayas registered a modest 3% growth in funding.

In terms of sector beneficiaries, the private sector received a substantial portion of these funds, reflecting a 12% growth in 2023 and 2024. In comparison, public sector funding saw only a 2% increase.

Moreover, there has been a rising demand for Islamic finance among citizens. In 2024, over 49,000 clients were registered for this financing type, with funds allocated in this category totaling 9.4 billion DA. Notably, more than half of this amount was directed towards the industrial sector.

This session forms part of the legislative review process for the budgetary regulations concerning the fiscal year 2022. The details shared underline the BADR’s commitment to enhancing investment across various regions and sectors, which is vital for considering Algeria’s economic growth.

This overview illustrates the critical role of BADR in financing investment, reflecting a dedicated effort to bolster both private and public sectors while catering to the rising interest in Islamic finance options.
