Mezoued emphasized that the launch aligns with directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and enhances Algeria’s African dimension, aimed at fostering air connectivity and trade with other African nations. The new service details indicate that flights will operate weekly, departing from Algiers to Abuja every Sunday at 19:30, and returning from Abuja to Algiers every Friday at 03:30 AM. This route will also extend to Douala, Cameroon. The timing of this service coincides with Air Algérie’s plan to modernize its fleet, including the acquisition of 16 new aircraft and the transformation of Algiers Airport into a regional hub to connect Africa with Europe and the Middle East.
