Marine Le Pen and RN Officials Found Guilty: MoDem, LFI, and Other Legal Cases

Marine Le Pen and her colleagues from the Rassemblement National are not the only elected officials embroiled in judicial issues related to European parliamentary assistants. MoDem and Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s former party are also implicated, albeit to a lesser extent. MoDem faced accusations of misusing EU parliamentary funds for party assistants between 2005 and 2017, amounting to €300,000, compared to €4.3 million linked to Le Pen’s party. François Bayrou was acquitted, while five former MEPs were convicted for embezzlement. Meanwhile, investigations into Mélenchon are ongoing, with no charges yet, despite questioning former assistants.
