Summary of Security Measures for Eid al-Fitr in Algeria

In anticipation of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the National Gendarmerie Command in Algeria has announced the implementation of a special preventive security plan to ensure public safety. This initiative aims to secure various public spaces, such as mosques and recreational areas, that are expected to experience significant crowds during the festive period.

The Commandment emphasized its commitment to providing citizens with a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere during the holiday. The security measures are designed not only to protect individuals but also to safeguard public and private properties. The initiative includes strategies to maintain smooth traffic flow throughout the regions under the Gendarmerie’s jurisdiction, which will involve deploying permanent and mobile units that operate around the clock. These include territorial units, security and investigation brigades, and traffic safety personnel, as well as aerial surveillance formations. This coordinated presence aims to ensure effective surveillance of the territory and a continuous on-ground presence.

The Gendarmerie highlighted the importance of proximity actions, which encompass guidance, assistance, rapid response interventions, and support when necessary. These measures collectively aim to maintain public order and enhance the security environment during the festive celebrations. Furthermore, the Gendarmerie has made available a dedicated hotline (number 1055) for 24/7 citizen alerts and assistance, alongside their traffic information page on Facebook titled "Tariki," and an online portal for preliminary complaints at www.ppgn.mdn.dz.

With these preparations in place, the Gendarmerie Command has extended its warmest wishes to all citizens for a blessed Eid al-Fitr.
