4200 agents et 355 camions mobilisés durant l’Aïd El-Fitr
Netcom’s Efforts to Maintain Cleanliness During Aïd El-Fitr in Algiers
In preparation for Aïd El-Fitr, the cleaning establishment for the wilaya of Algiers, known as Netcom, has implemented extensive measures to ensure the cleanliness of public spaces and neighborhoods. This involved the deployment of 4,200 agents and 355 trucks to guarantee effective waste management during and after the festivities.
Nassima Yakoubi, the communication and development manager at Netcom, highlighted the organization’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness across the 26 municipalities within Algiers. To address the anticipated increase in waste during the holiday, Netcom prepared well in advance by mobilizing significant human and material resources. Teams were organized to ensure that streets remained clean through various shifts.
The schedule for waste collection was meticulously planned, with operations running from 9 PM to 4 AM, followed by a continuation of service between 4 AM and noon, and another shift serving from noon until 9 PM. Additionally, to encourage responsible waste disposal, 1,200 trash bins were installed in public areas, especially in parks.
Preparation efforts started days before Aïd, including the strengthening of patrols to monitor cleanliness. To specifically enhance street cleanliness, 20 trucks were designated for cleaning mosques, markets, and other public spaces in anticipation of heavy foot traffic.
To facilitate access for worshippers attending prayers, two agents were assigned to clean every mosque’s surrounding area. Recognizing the surge in visitors to parks and public venues, special measures included deploying 80 agents to popular locations such as the "Prise d’Eau" park in El Harrach, Riadh El Feth, Jardin d’Essais in El Hamma, and parts of Bainem forest to maintain hygiene in these high-traffic areas.
Cleaning efforts also extended to cemeteries, where 50 agents were mobilized to ensure that access paths remained clean for families visiting to pay their respects.
In parallel with these cleaning initiatives, Netcom launched a communication campaign focused on environmental conservation. Agents engaged with citizens in parks, encouraging them to understand the importance of keeping their environment clean. This campaign emphasized active participation from the community, urging residents to adhere to proper garbage disposal schedules, use designated dumping areas, employ appropriate waste bags, and practice waste sorting between organic and recyclable materials.
Moreover, the establishment implemented a special inspection program with an increase in supervisory outings to ensure adherence to the cleaning schedule and to address any identified shortcomings promptly.
Through these comprehensive efforts, Netcom not only aimed to maintain the cleanliness of Algiers during Aïd El-Fitr but also sought to foster a culture of environmental responsibility among citizens. The proactive measures taken by the organization illustrate a significant commitment to public health and the enhancement of community well-being, especially during one of the busiest times of the year in the city. By combining significant manpower, effective resource deployment, and community engagement, Netcom demonstrated its dedication to providing a clean and welcoming environment for all during this festive occasion.
