Between March 19 and March 26, 2025, significant operational achievements were reported by the Algerian National People’s Army (ANP) in their ongoing battle against terrorism and organized crime across the country. During this week, the ANP eliminated two terrorists, apprehended five others who surrendered, and arrested five individuals supporting terrorist groups.

The ANP’s operations showcased their professionalism and commitment to securing the nation. In a notable incident on March 21, two terrorists were neutralized in In Guezzam, which is part of the 6th Military Region. The operation resulted in the recovery of a sniper rifle, a substantial amount of ammunition, and various items.

Five terrorists surrendered to military authorities during this week, bringing with them a total of five Kalashnikov submachine guns, additional ammunition, and other materials. Those who surrendered included notable figures such as Berbouchi El-Dhahbi, Mehri Abdellah, Okbaoui Mohamed (alias Abou Fadila), Berbouchi Mohamed (alias Kerkeb), and El Hammal Ali (alias Abou Zaïd), with some surrendering in the 3rd Military Region and others in the 6th Military Region.

In parallel to their anti-terrorism efforts, the ANP targeted organized crime, specifically narcotrafficking. Coordinating with various security services, they intercepted 34 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle in 870 kilograms of kif (hashish) from Morocco. Additionally, they confiscated 1.42 kilograms of cocaine and 158,425 psychotropic pills.

In operations across Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and In Guezzam, the ANP apprehended 185 individuals and seized numerous items, including 38 vehicles, 85 generators, 43 jackhammers, and various tools related to illicit gold mining. They also seized explosives, detonators, and raw gold and stone mixtures. Furthermore, 22 additional individuals were arrested, with the recovery of an automatic pistol, four hunting rifles, 64,968 liters of fuel, and 45 quintals of tobacco.

In a broader context, the police also dealt with illegal immigration issues, detaining 401 undocumented migrants of various nationalities throughout the country.

These actions evidencing the commitment and effectiveness of the ANP highlight the ongoing battle against extremism and organized crime within Algeria, showcasing their proactive approach and readiness to protect national security.
