11e Festival international de l’inchad du 25 au 30 juin
Summary of the Upcoming 11th Edition of the International Inchad Festival in Constantine
The regional theater Mohamed-Tahar Fergani in Constantine is set to host the 11th edition of the International Inchad Festival from June 25 to 30. This year’s festival will feature performances from seven local groups alongside nine international ensembles, as announced by festival commissioner Abdelali Louahouah during a press conference.
Under the theme "The Voices of Inchad Sing Glorious Algeria," the festival will showcase artists from several countries, including Algeria, Oman, Tunisia, Tanzania, Jordan, Syria, Malaysia, Belgium, and Bosnia.
The opening night will be particularly notable, featuring a performance by Algerian mounchid Abderrahman Bouhbila along with the Omani group "Orboudj." A highlight of the evening will be a show that utilizes artificial intelligence to recreate the historical context of Prophet Muhammad’s (QSSSL) Hijra to Medina, presented with a scenery that reflects landscapes from that era.
In addition to performances, the festival will include an academic and training program, featuring seminars and workshops led by experts in Inchad and Sufi music. Topics will range from the art of flute playing, led by Jordan’s Kussaï Bilal, to percussion by Tunisia’s Hatem Amous. The scheduled seminars will delve into several themes, including "Inchad as a Civilizational Vision," "The Role of Inchad in Awareness," and "Sufism and Religious Inchad in the Maghreb." The festival will also feature conferences and poetry recitals.
Overall, this year’s International Inchad Festival aims to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Algeria through the medium of traditional music, uniting artists and audiences in appreciation of this unique art form.
