117 écoles doctorales agréées au niveau national

Summary and Rewrite

In a notable development for higher education in Algeria, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has approved 117 doctoral schools nationwide for the current academic year. This initiative aims to establish a new model of cooperation and coordination among higher education institutions, as highlighted by Abdeldjebar Daoudi, the Minister’s advisor.

Daoudi emphasized that this new organizational structure, the doctoral school, unites various higher education and research institutions that share common objectives. The intention is to foster qualified and integrated cooperation among these establishments. Within this framework, particular attention has been devoted to strategic fields such as computer science and mathematics, regarded as the driving forces behind technological advancement. He also pointed out the crucial role of English language proficiency in accessing knowledge resources.

Moreover, the Ministry is pushing towards a "zero-paper" approach to simplify administrative processes. For the first time, doctoral candidates are required only to fill out an electronic form through the integrated information system known as "Progres," exempting them from submitting various documents.

In support of technological development, especially in the field of electronics, Blida 1 Saad Dahleb University has been authorized, in collaboration with the Advanced Technologies Development Center (CDTA), to hold an exceptional national competition on January 29, 2025. This event aims to promote the electronics sector, which holds significant potential for economic and industrial impact in Algeria. Accordingly, 110 educational positions have been allocated for the electronics field, with 40 for computer science.

To bolster food security and enhance the agricultural sector, an exceptional national competition is set to occur on May 3, accompanied by the establishment of a new doctoral school focusing on "Animal Production and Nutrition for Productive Animals," offering a total of 100 educational places. This school comprises the National Veterinary School (ENSV) and the National Agronomic School (ENSA), collaborating with various research centers, including the Scientific and Technical Research Center on Arid Regions (CRSTRA), the Scientific and Technical Research Center for Physico-Chemical Analyses (CRAPC), and others.

In a continuous effort to improve doctoral training programs, two new subjects have been introduced: basics and techniques of programming, along with tools and techniques of artificial intelligence. The official launch of the third-cycle (Doctorate) program for the 2024/2025 academic year took place on Tuesday, with 4,998 new enrollments recorded.
